Let the mutherf*ckah burn!
What channel does a girl (who doesn't have digital cable) need to tune into to find the Burning Holiday Log channel? It wouldn't be Christmas without the anticipation that comes while waiting to see the hand! Thanks Vancouver. Love you! |

Dinner certificates?
Can anyone recommend some restaurants that sell gift certificates (in the form of monetary value or a set meal) at a nice restaurant that would be appropriate for parents? Something nice and romantic would be cool - any cuisine. Bonus points for places on the North Shore or near the Second Narrows. Thanks! |

Tony Parsons on the News Hour for the last time.
Is this the beginning of the end of an era in news broadcasting? Who will be next? Peter Mansbridge? Lloyd Robertson? Bill Good? Rumours are flying as to why Tony Parsons' retirement from the "country's top-rated supper-hour newscast" has been suddenly accelerated, but that's besides the fact. This Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at 6 p.m., Tony Parsons will anchor the News Hour on Global BC for the last time. The News Hour anchorman will give his final telecast tomorrow Vancouver Sun (and the Vancouver Province) and Global BC are owned by CanWest... lips sealed all around? |

Has anyone ever moved to a strange city with limited funds, nowhere to live and no job and was successful at doing it? If so how did you do it. I only ask as I moved back to California on a whim in September and live with family, but it was a total mistake to move back here, so now I am thinking of moving back there, but I will so be limited on funds and trying to get idea's and see if anyone has ever done something similiar. |

Salons
Can anyone recommend a good salon in or near Metrotown or Brentwood, OR within short walking distance from Granville Skytrain? 'Good' meaning good service, preferably offer massages or facials, and manicures that don't chip immediately? |

Scotch or Whiskey Tastings?
In my quest to find a present for one of the most difficult people to buy for ever (Thanks, Dad), I had the idea of getting him tickets to a Scotch or Whiskey Tasting. Google is not helping much, however. Does anyone know of anywhere in Vancouver that would do such a thing? Thanks! |

Another Christmas edition "where can I find" post! I'm looking for a men's t-shirt/sweatshirt/hoodie that has some sort of a stylised image of the Vancouver skyline on it. Something in a style similar to the Golden State Warriors "The City" logo ( like this). Basically, something cool that a local would be okay with wearing. Nothing tourist-y or cheese-y. I'll take anything you can offer at this point, all locations/prices considered. I've been looking for this as a gift for this person for a few years now & have never seen anything. I'm hoping someone here has seen something that I haven't! |

Reasonably cheap mattresses?
Good morning, Vancouver and surrounding municipalities! I am looking for a place - preferably somewhere in eastern Burnaby or western New Westminster - which sells and delivers reasonably priced mattresses and box springs. Quality is less important to me than delivery, for a number of reasons. There's that place out in front of Metrotown which is okay; I can get a queen sized set for around $660n before taxes, and with free delivery, but I can't help but feel like this is a bit high-end both in terms of quality and price. So! Anyone know where I can do better than this? |

Rice Krispie molds
So, I had planned to make Rice Krispie treats for friends and family. I wanted to make cute little shapes, but apparently they are not packaging molds with the holiday coloured cereal this year. Sure, there's some instructions or something for making stars but I really wanted MOLDS. So, is there a place in the area I can get something that will work or does anyone have some molds laying around I could take off their hands? :) Much obliged! |

Ok, weird query. I want to learn stilt-walking. Anybody know of someone in Vancouver who might want to instruct/help me? Preferably with some kind of bartering exchange as I am higher on skills than I am on cash. Alternatively, does anybody feel like stumbling along the stilt-walking learning process with me? I'd just rather not be totally on my own with this, or I know I won't get 'er done. C'mon people, I know at least one of you must be in the circus! |

I don't usually ask... but does anyone know why 21 cop cars (RCMP, VPD, ghost, ghost minivan, ghost other van), lights and sirens blaring, went by the Kootney Loop area (down Boundary a little ways)? Quite the commotion. |

Flute lessons?
Hey Vancouver! Since its the holidays, I always pull my old flute out of the back of the closet, dust it off and play the 2 songs that I still remember how to play... Good King Wenceslas and the Huron Carol. Lame I know, but the last few years have been busy, so music has been kind of low on my list of priorities. Anyway, I'm interested in expanding my repertoire, and actually re-learning how to play my flute. So I'm looking for lessons. The one problem is that its been so many years since I took any kind of lesson, I've forgotten how to read music (and let's be honest, I was never very good at it). So does anyone know of someone who does more or less beginner flute lessons for grownups with minimal emphasis on music reading? I'd prefer to be able to play by ear anyway, so I can pick things up that I hear around. Pretty much anywhere close to a skytrain is ideal, as I commute between South Cambie and SFU right now. Of course price is always an issue, but I'm more interested in finding someone that I like, for now. Thanks in advance! |

Assorted items for sale
Hi Vancouver! I have several things that I need to move out of my apartment ASAP because they are taking up precious space. Can you offer a good home to any of the following? - Four never used clear+purple umbrellas - $30 for the set (I paid $40). Craigslist post here with pictures.
- Two 24" and two 18" clear vases, used once for my wedding in October. Asking $40 for the set (we originally paid over $100). Craigslist ad here with pictures.
- Awesomely ugly paisley single futon for $20 OBO. There is a small section of damage on the removable cover. Craigslist post here with pics!
- Standard plastic floor protector to save your carpet from your rolling desk chair. We have hardwood now, but this is still in excellent shape. Asking $20, they're $40+ new. Craigslist post here.
Pick up in Kits for all of them, and all prices are negotiable! Please help me find a good home for all of these! |

Pets and Santa Claus
Hi Vancouver :) I'm looking for somewhere to have my puppy's picture taken with Santa Claus. BCSPCA has a few listed on their calendar for Saturday and Sunday but unfortunately I don't think I can make those this weekend. Anyone know of other upcoming pet-friendly Santas? I'm in Surrey, but travel is not a problem. Thanks! |

Dear people! I'm leaving Vancouver and I'd like to sell my bike. I realize that it is not the best time of the year to sell bikes but I might as well give it a try. It's a nice Kuwahara Savage bike in good shape and it comes with a helmet, a lock, tools and lights - for only $100 Is anybody interested or does anybody know anybody who knows anybody who might be interested? Here's the link to the add on Craigslist: http://vancouver.de.craigslist.ca/van/bik/1503413731.htmlThank you! |

FS: 2 student tickets to Vivaldi's Four Seasons on Dec 19- $20 for both! Looking to sell 2 student tickets to Vivaldi's Four Seasons on Dec 19 at 8 pm at the Chan Centre at UBC. I really wanted to go but will be out of town. The seats are Upper Circle E360+359. They are horrible seats but I figured it was more about the music than anything. :P And also, because they're student tickets you will need student ID.
I paid $42.50for both. Asking for $20 for both, or your best offer.

looking to volunteer on christmas day or night
i have no plans for christmas this year, which is weird, but in any case i'd like to volunteer at a soup kitchen, or something similar that serves a meal for the homeless on christmas. as far as i can tell, union gospel is having their christmas dinner on dec 12. i tried calling the salvation army, but their offices are closed for the weekend. any other suggestions? or is there a different type of event on christmas that i could volunteer for? (ie. handing out blankets, or something) thanks vancouver! |
